Plaza Premium Group (PPG) is pleased to announce its sponsorship initiative providing 250,000 students from seven universities in Malaysia and India with complimentary access to The New York Times through the NYT inEducation platform.

Through this initiative, students at Universiti Malaya, Multimedia University, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, UOW Malaysia KDU University College, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, International University of Malaya-Wales, and the Indian Institute of Science gain access to Pulitzer Prize-winning content that enriches their educational experience.

The New York Times inEducation platform delivers powerful teaching, learning, and research tools, enabling students to explore complex global issues while developing essential English proficiency and critical thinking skills vital for their academic and professional futures.

“Our five-year collaboration with Plaza Premium Group has transformed educational opportunities for thousands of university students across Malaysia and India,” said Helena Phua, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific of The New York Times. “We’re deeply grateful for PPG’s steadfast commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders with access to trusted journalism that enhances their educational journey and broadens their global perspective.”

“As part of PPG’s ESG initiatives, we believe in giving students and faculty access to quality, fact-based journalism and expert analysis, which encourages independent thinking and inspires a lifelong appreciation for expanding the mind with the gift of reading world-class journalism. We are pleased to contribute to the educational journey of 250,000 students across seven universities in Malaysia and India. As part of the partnership with The New York Times, our guests from select locations of the Plaza Premium Lounges can enjoy a complimentary NYT subscription while in the lounge,” stated Mei Mei Song, Chief Transformation Officer of PPG.

“UTAR extends its heartfelt gratitude to Plaza Premium Group for four years of generous sponsorship, which has made The New York Times accessible to our academic community. Since 2021, The New York Times has served as a valuable academic resource at UTAR, benefiting over 10,000 staff and students and integrated into more than 45 academic programmes. With over 530,000-page views, it continues to support teaching, learning, and research through case studies, critical analysis, and exploration of global issues.
